- Accumulator
- A type of parlay where multiple selections are combined, and the winnings roll over from one selection to the next.
- Arbitrage
- Placing bets on all possible outcomes of an event across different bookmakers to guarantee a profit.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money you have set aside for betting.
- Bet slip
- The digital or paper record that lists the selections, odds, and stake for a wager you intend to place.
- Bookmaker
- The company or person that sets the odds and accepts bets on sporting events.
- Cash out
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, either locking in a profit or cutting a loss.
- Cover
- When a team wins by more points than the spread, meaning the bet on that team is successful.
- Edge
- The statistical advantage a bettor believes they have over the bookmaker's odds.
- Futures
- A bet placed on an outcome that will be decided far in the future, like which team will win the World Cup.
- Handicap
- A numerical adjustment made to a team's score to balance the chances of different outcomes in a bet.
- In-play
- Bets placed after a match has started, with odds that change as the game progresses.
- Kelly Criterion
- A formula used to determine the optimal size of a bet based on your edge and the odds offered.
- Line movement
- Changes in the odds or point spread that occur as more bets are placed or new information becomes available.
- Live betting
- The act of placing bets in real time while a match is ongoing.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with payouts based solely on the winner, not the score margin.
- Odds
- The chance a particular outcome will happen, shown as numbers that tell you how much you can win if your bet is correct.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total score of a match will be higher or lower than a set number.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links together two or more individual wagers, and all must win for the parlay to pay out.
- Prop bet

- Push
- When a bet lands exactly on the line, resulting in the stake being returned with no win or loss.
- Spread

- Stake

- Unit
